An Albion College Response Team continues to monitor the situation, respond to developments, and work with on- and off-campus resources to best support our community members who may be impacted by the spread of COVID-19.

365体育官方网站We are also working closely with the and the to monitor coronavirus developments in our region. Additionally, we are following guidelines and are communicating regularly with the Albion College community through email and this webpage.

The Spring 2020 semester has concluded.

  • Classes moved to online instruction the week of March 16 and concluded in an online format. Residence halls closed on March 24 to comply with the Stay Home, Stay Safe executive order issued by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. Limited exceptions have been granted for students with extraordinary need.

  • Decisions on previously scheduled events will continue to be communicated as they are made.
    • A virtual Honors Convocation was held May 1.
    • A virtual Commencement was held May 2, and an on-campus celebration of the Class of 2020 is tentatively scheduled for October 16 at 4 p.m. Details for the on-campus event will be shared promptly once they are firm.

MDHHS has created a statewide hotline to respond to health-related questions about COVID-19. The phone number is 1-888-535-6136 and is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET.

And it can't be said often enough: Wash your hands frequently. Cover your coughs and sneezes. If you are sick, stay at home or in your room.


Return to Work Plan Announced

Catherine Lessnau, assistant director of human resources, shared the following message in an email to Albion College faculty and staff:

Albion College will follow a four-phase in order to gradually bring the majority of employees back to campus - the first phases of which began in May 2020. The Return to Work Contingency Planning Team’s goals with this plan are to protect the health of employees, help ensure the well-being of the community, and carefully and deliberately prepare for the fall semester.

Our knowledge and understanding of the COVID-19 virus continues to evolve, and our policies and plans will be updated as appropriate as more information becomes available.

365体育官方网站Albion College will phase in the return of employees over time in a coordinated process to ensure appropriate social distancing, availability of PPE (personal protective equipment) and testing capabilities are maintained.

365体育官方网站Albion will assess expanded staffing based on mission-critical operations, ability to control and manage specific work environments, and necessity to access on-site resources. These decisions, once approved, will be communicated through your respective supervisor.

365体育官方网站Expanded staffing will be closely coordinated to mitigate potential risks and ensure the safety of faculty and staff, as well as the communities we serve.

COVID-19 Employee Training

From Lisa Locke, director of human resources:

To promote safety, health, and well-being, and to remain compliant with reopening regulations, prior to returning to work, faculty and staff will receive comprehensive training including Albion College-specific safety requirements, protocols, and expectations to ensure our employees and our community stay safe and prevent the spread of COVID-19. Training incorporates COVID-19 guidelines issued by OSHA, CDC, and relevant regulatory bodies. Ongoing training will be provided when new or modified policies or procedures are developed.

Expected Completion Time: 5 minutes

Audience: This training is required for all employees prior to returning to campus. For employees who were designated as critical workers and have been conducting on campus work throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, please complete this training by Monday, June 29, 2020. For those who have not yet returned to work please complete before doing so or July 31, 2020 at the latest.

Preparedness & Response Plan
